Scrappin Studio's Project with Studio Calico's November Kit

Hello crafty people! I'm back again and I have two new projects to share. I'm thrilled with this month's kits as the colors are so fresh and bright and I just love the little clear stamps and fun brads! Can't wait to use them all! :)

On to my projects... I'm starting with Bobby Socks, November's #1 add on kit. Get the kit here :)

First is a fresh and simple birthday card, love how the patterns in the kit complement each other so well, and that red tag is just delicious :)

Fresh and cherry?
(Cardstock, stamp, seam binding and twine not from kit)
This kit came with a pack of awesome fun brads too!

For the second project, I used the remaining papers to create a shabby card. I love being able to create different themes from the same papers. Here I altered a Tim Holtz tag using the leftover papers from the card.

Love the background paper - October Afternoon's Ring Toss from the kit and Heidi Swapp Black and White Alpha (cardstock, lace, brads, pearls and fabric rose not from kit).
Sizzix roses from kit paper.
Punched doily circle of kit paper using Martha Stewart punch.
That's my first post for Studio Calico's Bobby Socks... I have more to come... now I'll be off for a mini vacation with the hubs next week so you'll only hear from me next weekend. I need to find myself some fresh new inspiration and perhaps some travel photos for a layout or mini album, stay tuned ;)

Thanks for dropping by! Have a great weekend everyone!

XOXO

First Birthday Canvas Album

Hi there! Thanks for being here! Hope you had a nice weekend and I hope this Monday's not too blue for you :) Today's post is to reminisce Lucas' first birthday ... my boy was born on 4th September 2010, that's 2 years ago. We celebrated his first birthday last year with just about everyone! Family, friends, church friends, colleague, ex-colleagues and wonderful people aplenty.

We had great photos taken at the party and I was planning to document the birthday in a special canvas album, so I ordered the album and all the embellies like back in September last year but I only managed to complete the album this year. Talk about procrastination! Here are the canvas pages which I had fun with lots of misting, iron-transfers and embellishing. I used a Prima Canvas Album 10" x 9" with 5 canvas inserts. Love the thick double layered inserts, perfect for heavy painting, misting and whatever not.

Here are my pages....

My boy is already 2 plus today and soon I will work on his second birthday album, I pray I won't take another YEAR to complete it! Here's a precious moment of us at his second birthday last month where I was showing him how much he has grown! :)

That's all for now, thanks for dropping by. Have a great week ahead!

XOXO!

Scrappy Crafty Chicas with CS Sketch #230

Hi again! I'm on a roll here. I actually created this layout this very afternoon itself. I'm suddenly just bursting with mojo after a full day workshop yesterday with Jaz Lee. I'll have a separate post on the class projects, it was such fun getting together with my croppy group of friends. In fact this photo print was given to me yesterday by Chris, a fellow crafter.

I got these papers from Papermarket at Raffles when I was down in Singapore in August. hadn't had the chance to touch it till today! *yay* Seriously I have stash enough to line up from here to Timbuktoo... and yet I still keep on hoarding and hoarding.... anyway here you go...

Layout using Teresa Collins' My Story. Banners are Hambly's.
These beautiful ladies, from left to right are... Yuz of Blossominch, Liza of MissCraftee and Chris whose gorgeous work is on display at Papier Love (LSS) and lastly that's me :)

Again, using an inspiring sketch from Creative Scrappers:

Here are some close-ups:

I had fun layering and layering...
Prima mask and gesso over a layer of bright orange spray-mist.
Tulle trim + fussy cut Hambly banner + liquid pearls.

Really lovin this color combo ^_^
I'm so happy I managed to complete a layout today and also finally get to update this blog.  Seeing my scrappy friends again really inspired me to keep up the craft despite my crazy work schedule :)

Have a blessed week ahead! XOXO

Kimchi Party with CS Sketch #229

Whenever I'm lacking mojo, I know I'll pick up some zest from Creative Scrappers, and this sketch plus all the DT projects gave me an idea to scrap these pics of me and the hubs at my 2011 birthday lunch. We both love kimchi so much we can actually eat it everyday!

Our Kimchi Party with Creative Scrappers #229

I so happen to have this 12' x 12' pattern paper with the grid pattern that matches the Korean decor of the restaurant. Those fussy cut butterflies are so gorgeous, they are from Graphics45 Olde Curiosity. Here's the inspiring sketch:

Here are some close-ups:

Close-up of the title plus some hidden kimchi in the 2 mini bottles maybe? And some 7G tape peeking up from underneath.

Love this satin Prima bloom with the ready blings in the centre.

Spray painted doilies, fussy cut butterflies and random bling.
Thanks for dropping by and have a great Sunday! :)

Crafting in September

Please forgive my lack of a better title to describe this post! I'm thankful you're still here despite my long absence hehe. You're a gem! :)

Now that annual budget and the event of the year is behind me (work stuff), I managed to squeeze some time for some much needed scrap therapy. Just sharing 2 simple cards here. I've no purpose for them, just felt like pasting paper to paper and making use of my neglected stash hehehe.

LOVE.WISH.DREAM
Using my favorite Tim Holtz Stamper Anonymous Stamp. I was aiming for a more masculine / neutral look here.

LIFE UNCOMMON
Here's a sweet girlie one with a velvety rose - notice the glass jar and wooden birdie? :)

That's it for now, I've got a few post up my sleeves though; I've completed Lucas First Birthday Album and we just celebrate his Second 2 weeks back! Just in the nick of time.

Thanks for dropping byHave a wonderful day! Mucho hugs and kisses XOXO ... and Happy Malaysia Day to fellow Malaysians :)

L-U-C-A-S Mini Album for Scrappin Studio

Hi there, I'm back again with another Scrappin Studio Project. Hope you had a great week, more than half a year is gone and in a matter of months we are closing 2012! Scary how time flies. And scary how fast babies grow too, it feels like only yesterday when my boy was a helpless infant and today he is a demanding toddler! Today I'm sharing a mini album entitled L-U-C-A-S, a tribute to my boy and this yellow car which he loved. (I say 'loved' because the car has since been replaced by many others and is also, sadly missing a wheel!)

I started by cutting cardstock and papers into 5" x 6" sizes, all are from July's main kit and add on kit: Elmwood Park and Capture the Flag. Then I used remnants of the papers to embellish. The main idea was to spell out L-U-C-A-S so I started with the lettering pages and then decorated behind each with photos etc.

The lettering are achieved by fussy the cutting the letters from this pp:

Basic Grey - PB & J - Thermos
I then used the canvas ribbon (from Capture the Flag kit) as the cover centrepiece....

Below photos are how I decorated each page behind the lettering pages....

Last step - simply punch a hole at the top left corner and use a ring or chain to hold the pages together. Finally here's how the album look like page by page.

Now I'd like to share a simple tutorial on how to make the canvas ribbon bloom. You will need; needle, thread, ribbon with some width, buttons and twine to decorate the centre and some glue dots to adhere the bloom to paper.

  • Step 1: Gather the edge of the ribbon into a fan shape, thicker ribbons are easier to work with, this canvas fabric is perfect!
  • Step 2: Thread a needle and thread through it section by section till you have enough to become a bloom.
  • Step 3: Sew up at the joining section and knot it - this will be the behind.
  • Step 4: Flip to the other side and you're almost done - add finishing touches to the centre with buttons or other embellishments.

Hope you like this album and bloom :) Feel free to check out the awesome Scrappin Studio kits!  Thanks for dropping by and have a great week ahead!

XOXO!

Dad's 60th Birthday!

Hi there fellow scrappers! Here is my first Scrappin Studio post and I’m working with the delightful Elmwood Park and Capture the Flag, Studio Calico’s July’s main kit and add-on kit. Both are simply adorably playful and fun ... they make me think of playgrounds and carnivals in the summer! And gosh those wood veneer tweety birds are to-die-for!

I'm going with a more classic theme with this post as I decided to scrap this photo taken with me dad and brother last December at dad’s 60th birthday. As you can see, at 60 (centre), he is still more fashionable than me and bro together! Ok this pic was actually taken back in December last year but I haven't had the oppurtunity to work on it hehe.
Slightly rustic layout with a touch of cute with the wood veneer tweets. I added emphasis to the photo with some stenciling using distress ink (Tea Dye) and punchinella. (Lace ribbon, sentiment rub-on, cream prima bloom, ink, sticklers and liquid pearls not from kit)

I placed the tweety birds on a piece of paper that came with the graph stamp! *recycling*
Adorable mini envelope from Capture the Flag add-on kit.
The toothpick flag stickers are so awesome!

The wonder of the SC kits are that they works in many ways, I usually scrap with monotones with max of 3 to 4 colors so it works for me as well! In addition to the gorgeous SC kits, I’m experimenting with my new Sizzix Eclips... I created the layout title and the 2 layered flowers using SC papers and the Decorate Your Life cartridge. Guess what, you can also get the Sizzix Eclips from Scrappin Studio here *wink*

Satmping with the graph texture mini stamp, then alphas cut using Sizzix Eclips.

Flowers are cut using Sizzix Eclips, distressed and layered and decorated with buttons from Capture the Flag add-on kit. I sneaked in a Prima bloom as the last layer.

Check out these gorgeous kit here! Thanks for dropping by :) Do visit the SS blog for more inspiration from the Design Team :) Have a splendid Sunday folks!
