Scrappin Studio's Project with Studio Calico's November Kit

Hello crafty people! I'm back again and I have two new projects to share. I'm thrilled with this month's kits as the colors are so fresh and bright and I just love the little clear stamps and fun brads! Can't wait to use them all! :)

On to my projects... I'm starting with Bobby Socks, November's #1 add on kit. Get the kit here :)

First is a fresh and simple birthday card, love how the patterns in the kit complement each other so well, and that red tag is just delicious :)

This kit came with a pack of awesome fun brads too!

 

For the second project, I used the remaining papers to create a shabby card. I love being able to create different themes from the same papers. Here I altered a Tim Holtz tag using the leftover papers from the card.

Love the background paper - October Afternoon's Ring Toss from the kit and Heidi Swapp Black and White Alpha (cardstock, lace, brads, pearls and fabric rose not from kit).

That's my first post for Studio Calico's Bobby Socks... I have more to come... now I'll be off for a mini vacation with the hubs next week so you'll only hear from me next weekend. I need to find myself some fresh new inspiration and perhaps some travel photos for a layout or mini album, stay tuned ;)

First Birthday Canvas Album

Hi there! Thanks for being here! Hope you had a nice weekend and I hope this Monday's not too blue for you :) Today's post is to reminisce Lucas' first birthday ... my boy was born on 4th September 2010, that's 2 years ago. We celebrated his first birthday last year with just about everyone! Family, friends, church friends, colleague, ex-colleagues and wonderful people aplenty.

We had great photos taken at the party and I was planning to document the birthday in a special canvas album, so I ordered the album and all the embellies like back in September last year but I only managed to complete the album this year. Talk about procrastination! Here are the canvas pages which I had fun with lots of misting, iron-transfers and embellishing. I used a Prima Canvas Album 10" x 9" with 5 canvas inserts. Love the thick double layered inserts, perfect for heavy painting, misting and whatever not.

My boy is already 2 plus today and soon I will work on his second birthday album, I pray I won't take another YEAR to complete it! Here's a precious moment of us at his second birthday last month where I was showing him how much he has grown! :)

Cards for Guys

Hi again! My first week of work went by pretty well, it's hectic yet exciting, I'm quite exhilarated to be back in action I'm a total hopping bunny buzzing with enthusiasm! Let's hope and pray it stays that way a looooong way to go heheh!

I had an awesome class at Scrap N Crop's CropArty yesterday, we had five wonderful 'students' who did so great despite the quick pace, it was just chatting, laughing, cutting, pasting and more chatting :) And then there was lotsa shopping of course! Big thanks to Val of Scrap N Crop for the opportunity to be a guest teacher at her Scrap Abode and also for having me as the featured artists for Feb/March 2012!!! *yay* I'm just so honored and thrilled!

Well, today I'd like to share some 'masculine' cards made for guys, these cards were actually commissioned jobs from my friends cum valued customers *you girls are awesome* << hugs >>

I always find it quite challenging to make cards for guys as I have to go easy on the flowers and butterflies which I LOVE! I'll still sneak in a couple of them sparingly while making sure the overall design and color tone is not overly 'girly'. These cards were made using mainly MME's Lost & Found 2 6x6 pad (Breeze) as well as some of the 12 x 12 from the same collection, among other matching papers and whatnots from my stash.

Here's a rustic themed card using browns, green and pale yellow:

Minimal use of blooms & butterflies but I can't stay away completely!

The last guy card on my list is extra special as my friend requested it for her hubby and she wanted their photo inside the card plus personalized printed message.

Cheerful Cards for Scrappingville

Hi there! Hope you had a wonderful weekend :) Just wanna share some cutesy cheerful projects I created with Scrappingville's kit for the month ....

Here's a sunny birthday card using American Craft's Confetti papers. How delish is that glittery chipboard cupcake huh?

Lastly, when a simple card is not enough, why not create a quick and easy mini tag album? I've combined American Craft Confetti and Echo Park's Little Girl pp here with random bits & pieces and stamps from my stash for this "thank you" mini tag album.

The inside pages; there are total of 6 mini tags, measuring approx 4" x 3". This is a great way to make use of your leftover bits and pieces :)

Birthday Party Goodies

Last Sunday we celebrated Lucas' first birthday with a tea party and it was a BLAST! We were totally exhausted and tired at the end of it but it was an absolutely memorable party indeed. Alas, I don't have many party photos to share as the photographers will take some time to have them ready, but we've got a couple of nice pics here as starters :) Photo credits goes to Pretty Pictures.

The lil one knocked out halfway through the party. He was overwhelemd with all the activity and so many people!

I'm the one blowing out the candle. He just wanted to make a grab for it.

Well, what's a post without sharing some crafty stuff huh??? Here are some of the crafty goodies I made specially for this party....

The Guest Book; I'm using 7Gypsies blank mini book with Webster's Pages papers over a sticky-back canvas sheet. 

Picture frame is Tattered Angels, stamped and distressed. Tape ribbon is 7G.

Metal birdcage from Yew Buttons (local store). Fibers came from the packaging wrap of the book itself.

September is the month for birthdays! I personally know so many people born in September I’ll be broke this month! Why not create a special envelope cum card with a gift pocket inside for your birthday buddy? There’s no better way to present that gift voucher or ‘angpau’. This is a fun and easy class, perfect if you’re new to cardmaking or papercrafting.

Canvas Banner cum Mini Album

Date & time: Sat 17 Sept 3pm 
Level : Beginner to intermediate

It’s time to get our hands dirty playing with mists, inks and paints! Learn how to alter a canvas pendant banner and transform it into a mini album one way and a banner the other way. Great decoration at a party or simply in the home. This is a fun session where you can really let your creativity flow and transform the banner however way whichever way you like. Bring several small mini photos (we recommend that you refer to the sample instore)and please bring along plenty of wet wipes too :)

Level : Beginner

Create this fun and colorful birthday party layout. Techniques in this class includes misting, inking, handmade fan flowers and handmade flaglines plus mixing lotsa bright and cheerful colors to bring those birthday memories  to life. There’s no better way to document that special day! Participants to bring 1 (ONE) 3R color photo, preferably PORTRAIT format (as in vertical, not horizontal).
