Scrap-it-Lah's July Challenge

This is my first submission for Scrap-it-Lah for their July Challenge. Here is the criteria as stated in their blog post:

1) at least 5 photos in one layout which means the layout must be multi-pics. There must be 5 visible photos in it

2) Photos must be a mixture of black and white and coloured photos please

3) There should be visible journalling on the layout

My layout is based on some pictures we took during our honeymoon to Italy back in '08. We were roaming the streets of Rome looking for some breakfast because we arrived so early that the hotel room is not ready and not many cafes were open at that time. Luckily we found a small place serving the most scrumptious paninis and coffee. These memories are really special to me and hubby as it's the first meal on our honeymoon and it's our first trip to Europe :)

There are 5 photos with the main pic in B&W with 2 spots of journaling as per the stated criteria. Papers are mainly Bo Bunny's Gabrielle plus one Gabrielle fluer elise chip sticker with lots of BG Curio Chip stickers, prima flowers and some misted doilies. The background is misted with Mister Huey's mist in Warm Calico and TA Yellow Daisy.

Flowers, birds and a sunny color theme because it was summer in Rome when we were there.

"Cappucino & Pannini" is on Smash's travel journal note which came with the Studio Calico June kit.

CardPatterns July Sketch 122 Challenge

When I saw July's sketch on CardPatterns I can't wait to play along. It's a simple sketch that has so many possibilities. I decided to make good some of my lovely BB Gabrielle scraps. Here's the sketch:

 Here's my interpretation, staying true to the format of a vertical long card:

Love love love the 'LOVE WISH DREAM' Tim Holtz Idealogy rubber stamp.

This part is accented with punched edges, brown grossgarin ribbon and a vintage crochet lace ribbon. The vintage Prima flower is punched up with a coral pearl centre.

Fussy cutting the Gabrielle papers. The BG chip stickers matches them perfectly!

I always believe that the inside of a card should always be decorated somewhat as that's where the personal message comes in.

Spread Your Wings & Fly!

It's June already! Time flies; before you know it, Christmas will be upon us and another year is over!

Well, I'm glad this blog is now moving into it's second month of life. To kick off June I'd like to share my 'all things butterfly' layout. When I came across the Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection online, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I was ecstatic when I discovered that Craft Haven stocked almost the whole range; papers, embellishments etc, it was so fabulous ... I busted my scrap-shopping budget for the month (again!).

Here's my layout:

As you can see, the photo is most apt for this butterfly theme! I'm a total butterfly girl :)

I decorated the tag with Distress Ink Pads: Tim Holtz Aged Mahogany for the edges, Pumice stone for the butterflies and Tattered Rose all over. Butterfly designs made using Martha Stewart Royal Butterfly punch.



Another angle of the wraps and trim. I housed the date of the photo in a mini oval chipboard frame painted as per the chipboard trim. Alas, I can't recall where I got that oval. Flowers are Prima and brads are Bo Bunny Gabrielle.

So there's how I'm starting my June, I still have enough Gabrielle stuff for another two layouts I think. I aim to complete them within the month. Plus I'm also going to challenge myself to participate in more sketch challenges, that's pretty good reason enough to go stock up on supplies heehee :)

The Love Bandit Stole My Heart

I fell in love with the uber cute raccoons and owls on the Bo Bunny Love Bandit collection on Scrap N Crop. I bought these last month but I didn't have any inspiration on how to use them till a few days ago. I bought one 2-sided patterened paper, one diecut paper and matching stickers.

This is the end result ... *drumroll* ... taaddaaaa ... dedicated to my own lil Love Bandit Lucas who stole my heart!

I was inspired by the little birdhouse on the diecut so I created a birdhouse-like frame for the photo instead of the usual mat framing. I made a small cluster using some of the matching stickers and accented with Prima flowers. Titles are Prima alphas. I glazed bits of the accents to make them pop.
