A Wedding Project for M & J

Last month I had the honor to create a directional signage and guest book for my hubby's colleagues; Mabel & Justin for their wedding ceremonies. Just wanna share what I did for them based on a shabby-red theme. They requested for gerberas, and the couple is into cycling and lomo photos hence the bike and the filmstrip at the left corner  :)

Once Upon A Sketch September 1st Challenge

I really like the idea of having the YEAR as the title. I'm sure we all have meaningful momentous 'years' which are totally memorable and unforgettable. Well, truth be told I can find something incredible to talk about in just about every year of my past thirty something life... but for this challenge I've chosen 2007, the year of our wedding. Well, this is the obvious choice simply because the photography archive is waaaaaay more exciting than every other year :)

Here's my layout:

Papers are Prima Madeline collection Beautima and some Pink Paislee Sweetness. Transparency doily by Hambly. Background is misted with some pink and brown.

Journalling Criteria : A memorable year - Your title must be a year, and you must journal at least 2 lines on why this year is memorable for you. Examples: the year you got married, the year you graduated, the year you moved to a new house/country, the year you started a new job, the year your child was born, the year you lost someone dear. Your journalling can be in any language and any format (written, typed etc)

Flowers are Prima with the blue bloomers ribbon from Webster's pages which I separated.

Tiny mulberry roses on wire stems and skeleton leaf are locally sourced. Click on the product names and it'll lead you their respective stores.

Chipboard Frame is Tattered Angels. Blue crystal is from a local haberdashery. Dragonfly brad is Creative Impressions.

To be absolutely honest I wasn't entirely too happy about how this turned out as this is not the typical color scheme I would be comfortable with and I really think I could have done better with different, more suitable blooms... Hmmm, reminder to self to stock up on more blooms of different hues ;)

Shabby Vintage Wedding Card

I'm using CardPatterns Sketch 131 for this shabby-vintage wedding card.

Here's my card...

I'm using Basic Grey's Capella Forte for the background and Pink Paislee's Sweetness for the circular border which was cut from Slice Dilly Dally. I'm using a lot of distress inks; Ranger Distress Stain in Walnut and Ranger Distress Ink Pad in Pumice. The centre horizontal strip is cardstock which is stamped in Anna Griffin's musical notes and distressed.The sentiment is from Basic Grey's Wedding Stickers.

Handmade satin ribbon flower with a mini paper rossette (locally obtained) in the centre. Chipboard flourish is bare Elements, painted in Gesso and coated in golden stickles. I thought these added a glam-luxe touch to the shabby card :)

Here's the inside of the card, patterned paper is Prima's Botanical Missing You. Sentiment sticker is Basic Grey's Wedding Stickers.

Wedding Card: CardPatterns Sketch 129

Hi there crafter friends! We are more than halfway through the week and looking forwrad to a lovely weekend. In Malaysia we are looking forward to a long week of rest next week (yay!) in conjunction with the 'Raya' celebration (aka Eid i.e an important Muslim festival which marks the end of Ramadhan).

Anyway, I made a quick card for a wedding coming Sunday. It's for a lovely widowed couple in their late fifties who have found love a second time around in their lives. How blessed is that? To be able to find someone to share your twilight years with? I'm so happy for them both :)

Here's the card... I made it RED because the older Chinese generations sees red as an auspicious color. We normally give an 'angpau' or 'red envelope' with a love gift inside for weddings so we're using this 'red card' instead of the 'angpau' :) So there you go you learn something new aboout our Chinese custom if you don't already know this :)

Papers are MME's Laundry Line & 7Gypsies Lillie. Edge & butterfly punch; Martha Stewart, fancy circle; Slice Dilly Dally.

I was actually running low on mojo, been quite stressed out planning the birthday party. Thankfully I know I can always count on my favorite card sites for inspirational sketches :)

Cardabilities Sketch #34: A Wedding Card

Here's my first play-along with Cardabilities card sketch. It so happens that I'll be attending a wedding next Saturday; a union of two of my school-time classmates. I'm really looking to the function as many old school friends will be reunited after many years! Also, I believe this lovely couple deserve a specially hand made card on their special day.

Here's my card:

"And the two hearts shall become one" - a special card for a special couple as they tie the knot. Papers from PP Daily Junque, Hambly transparency and random ribbons, flowers and pearls. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely too happy with my handwritten sentiment but I don't have a wedding sentiment stamp ...  hmmm, need to practise and improve my handwritting!

I was so in love with this white, yellow and pale teal theme; I just could not get enough of it so I used the scraps to make two little bookmarks....

I Was a Bridesmaid!

At any wedding, next to the bride, bridesmaids get all the attention! I had the wonderful oppurtunity to be a bridesmaid at my childhood bestie Jenny's wedding back in '07. We've known each other since we were like SEVEN! It was a beautiful garden wedding and we girls had matching lilac bubble dresses, gorgeous bouquets and professionally done hair and makeup, courtesy of the beautiful bride. Truly an occasion to remember and cherish forever! Here's a scrap of this very memorable celebration. Alas, the bride is not in this photo as this was taken when we were preparing to walk down the aisle :(

A lilac and yellow themed layout. I used mainly prima flowers here and a huge Hambly doiley transparency which I fussy-cut. The only patterned paper here is a Prima Sparkling Spring 6x6 paper pad used a photo mat.

Prima flowers & pearls, liquid glue, peaarl string, Basic Grey Sweet Threads chip stickers, satin lilac ribbon; all overlaid on top of a fussy-cut Hambly doily transparency,

Love the Dusty Attic chipboard trim (underneath the flowers). Lace under the circular yellow shape is from Momoyo. Lotsa Sticklers glitter glue in Icicles. Buter flies are MS Royal Butterfly Punch.

Some Pink Paislee's Artisan resin elements here, misted in TA Glimmer Mist in Daisy Yellow. Tiny alphas are Glitz. Fancy chipboard trim from Dusty Attic.
