Vroom! A Layout for Scrappin Studio

Today I will share a layout I created using November's main kit; Sock Hop. This is a two-photo layout of my son playing with those cute pedal plastic cars you find at Toys'r'Us, he loves those, but then again he is obsessed with anything with wheels!

Here's a quick and easy tutorial to the layout:

1. Firstly I determined where I wanted the patterned papers. I decided to use the 2 pieces of promotional papers that came with the kit, they were already a good size :)
2. Next I lay over the other layers. I needed a red to make the layout pop and I sneaked in some leftover paper from September's kit hehe (the one with the box numbers).
3. Then I removed everything and misted some red ink on the yellow base paper.

I created some embellishments using the arrow stamps. Stamp in black on the paper and fussy cut. Use foam dots to adhere it to the layout and watch it pop! Do check out the awesome Sock Hop here!

Together

I was inspired by the sketch and phrase 'together' from Bird is the Word and the idea of having a banner on the layout from {Create} Make It Happen. So here is a layout of some of my favorite pics of my childhood girlfriends, taken some years back by a local studio... just a layout to celebrate the wonderful years of our blessed friendship.

I'm using Basic Grey (background paper), Prima (patterned paper), Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and Ranger Distress Ink to add color to the background. The chipboard bits are Maya Road (flourishes) and Dusty Attic (photo corner) and painted in a matching tea blue. Banner and scalloped circle are cut from Slice, punched border shapes at the bottom and butterflies are from Martha Stewart punches. Flowers and title alphas are Prima. Stickpin and pink rosette from Etsy.

Get Picky July #10: Love Wish Dream

Hi again! I'm back with yet another challenge; this is my first submission to Get Picky and here is the inspiration:

Quoting the blogpost: "This month we have chosen this gorgeous butterfly image to inspire you.  You are free to interpret it in any way you choose..... butterfly papers, embellishments, stamps, the colours.....the sky's the limit as long as you create a multi-photo layout."

So here's my interprretation using 2 photos:

Scrapping some of pre-wedding portraits taken back in 2007. The background is actually a plain rosy off-white cardstock misted with a giant Prima Mask.

Here are the butterflies, in line with the challenge requirement. I have Yuz to thanks for the idea to layer the Monarch butterflies. That girl is just bursting with ideas! The top layer is velum. B'fly stamped images are Martha Stewart.

Love Wish Dream... to capture that whimsical romance of our pre-wedding photos.  Liking the feathers??? They are colored turkey feathers from Art Friend at Gardens Mall. The round butterfly charm is Bo Bunny Gabrielle, it was actually a brad but I removed the braddy part so I can affix it to the ribbon. Title Stamp is Tim Holtz.

The doiley paper is from Basic Grey. Metal charm is MM.

Flowers are a combination of Prima and Kaisercraft.

Sigh ... my old pre-wedding photos gets me all nostalgic about the sweet young days  (only 4 years ago but feels like AGES!) ... and sadly, I know there's no way I can fit into that cheongsam dress anymore! *sob*sob*

Once Upon a Sketch July 15th Challenge

Here's my layout for my first participation on Once Upon a Sketch. The requirement in addition to the sketch is; Journalling Criteria - your journalling has to be a quote (handwritten, printed, rub on etc). My quote is an anonymous quote picked up randomly online realted to GRANDPARENTS; "Grandparents are a delightful blend of laughter, caring deeds, wonderful stories and love!" My layout features Lucas with his paternal grandma and grandpa taken early this year.

Using PP Daily Junque for the background and CC Odds & Ends in the centre. Butterflies stamps are Jenny Bowlin (big) and Martha Stewart (small) plus lotsa Prima flowers, some netting, a doily, a corrugated sheet and lace trim. The flourish is Basic Elements painted with Mister Huey's mist, I used the same flourish to create the background masking.

My First Studio Calico Layout!

I was so excited to get Studio Calico's Paper Moon kit yesterday from Scrappin Studio, it's the first time I'm actually buying an actual coordinated kit and I must say it's so fun! It saves you the hassle of thinking how and where to get embellishments and papers that matches.

Here's what's in the kit, amazing right?

I just could not wait to use that perforated rocket data paper, so cute! Here's my layout...

This was a quick and easy LO, however, apologies the photos are not very good as they are from my phone camera but I thought he looked as though he was strapped up in a rocket launcher! Haha.

Almost everything is from the kit including the crescent moon stamp and yellow pebble buttons. Exception are; the red cardstock and black alphas are from my stash. The stars are inked unto the page using a mask made from a mini star punch (bought at MPH). As for the rest of the materials:

• Mist: Studio Calico Warm Calico
• TH Distress Ink Pads Stormy Blue and Pumice Stone

The red and the Blast Off was inspired by one of Lucas favorite cartoons: Little Einsteins!

My Sleepy Lil Angel

I think every baby's an angel when he or she is peacefully fast asleep! A soundly sleeping baby means there's time to go to the loo, take a shower or just take a break! Also, a sleeping baby looks so so so adorable :)

June Sketch on Stuck?!

I was so excited to find patterned papers that matches Lucas pyjamas! I wanted a sweet, pastel and soft color theme for to evoke a beautifully peaceful mood, because that's how we feel when Lucas is asleep :)

It's so wonderful how the various bits and pieces from different collections came together so perfectly on this page.

One stanza of the lullaby that I sing to Lucas regularly to rock him to sleep.

Cute Little Tiger

Our lil prince Lucas was born in 2010 which is the year of the Tiger based on the Chinese Lunar calendar. Dear hubs bought him a really huge Tigger, which was a lame excuse for buying it for himself since he is enjoying it more than Lucas does. But I'm sure he will grow into it really soon.

I scraplifed a backdated sketch I came across in Stuck! Sketches for this theme. They have an amazing array of sketches! The main stuff used here; My Mind's Eye Alphabet Soup patterned paper and matching chipboard stickers. The background paper is by Rose Moka. TH distress ink in Pumice gives this cutesy zoo theme an edgy effect. I love distressing, it gives character to everything.

I created my little tag accents by cutting out the word ROAR from the pattern paper. While I loved the zoo animal prints I couldn't use the whole sheet as it would be quite overwhelming so this was quite a challenging project for me.

I needed the title to stand out amidst the rather busy layout so I cut out a bracket tag freehand. Have yet to invest in a Slice machine... I am so so so yearning and itching for it!
