Guest Designing on Cardabilities #36

BIG THANKS to Karan of Cardabilities for the honor to guest design for sketch #36. I was so surprised and excited when I got her email a few weeks back. Truly truly truly delighted and honored! :) :) :)

Woohoo! Here is a screengrab of the page :) It's my first ever guest design stint heehee so you can imagine I'm really thrilled about this moreover I'm still pretty new to the scene! Pardon my going on and on about it heehee :P  Anyhow, do pop over and have a look at the gorgeous cards created by the Design Team as well, they have wonderful inspirations for sketch #36.

My interpretation of the sketch

Trying to stay true to the sketch so I kept the body of the card empty and focused on the cluster of embellishment. I'm using Basic Grey Sweet Threads papers and chip stickers here, the background dark brown is the underside of a Basic Grey Hello Luscious Dandy, sandpapered. Happy Birthday tag is handwritten on a BG tag.

Used some netting underneath to add some dimension and texture. Butterflies are my favMS Royal B'fly  Punch.

Again using BG papers but the base 'script' paper is Prima's Botanical.

July Sketch on Stuck?!

Yet another amazing sketch on Stuck?! Here's my layout based on July 1st's sketch, it's a photo of my dearest childhood girlfriends taken at our girly weekend trip to Cameron Highlands back in 2008.

All patterned papers are MME's Stella Rose range with some scraps from PP Parisian Anthology and Daily Junque. background is made using a Prima mask and some distress ink.

July 1st Sketch

Alphas are AC Fabric chipboard Thickers and Glitz tiny alphas.

Embellishments are Prima flowers, BG Chip stickers, pearls, liquid pearls and butterflies from my favorite MS Royal butterfly punch.

This girly trip has a special palce in my heart because it will be a long while before we can another such trip. Rini and I are busy moms to our new baby boys. Jen is expecting and due in September so we're gonna be really really tied up for abit. Guess our future trips will involve kids!!!

Cardabilities Sketch #34: A Wedding Card

Here's my first play-along with Cardabilities card sketch. It so happens that I'll be attending a wedding next Saturday; a union of two of my school-time classmates. I'm really looking to the function as many old school friends will be reunited after many years! Also, I believe this lovely couple deserve a specially hand made card on their special day.

Here's my card:

"And the two hearts shall become one" - a special card for a special couple as they tie the knot. Papers from PP Daily Junque, Hambly transparency and random ribbons, flowers and pearls. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely too happy with my handwritten sentiment but I don't have a wedding sentiment stamp ...  hmmm, need to practise and improve my handwritting!

I was so in love with this white, yellow and pale teal theme; I just could not get enough of it so I used the scraps to make two little bookmarks....

I Was a Bridesmaid!

At any wedding, next to the bride, bridesmaids get all the attention! I had the wonderful oppurtunity to be a bridesmaid at my childhood bestie Jenny's wedding back in '07. We've known each other since we were like SEVEN! It was a beautiful garden wedding and we girls had matching lilac bubble dresses, gorgeous bouquets and professionally done hair and makeup, courtesy of the beautiful bride. Truly an occasion to remember and cherish forever! Here's a scrap of this very memorable celebration. Alas, the bride is not in this photo as this was taken when we were preparing to walk down the aisle :(

A lilac and yellow themed layout. I used mainly prima flowers here and a huge Hambly doiley transparency which I fussy-cut. The only patterned paper here is a Prima Sparkling Spring 6x6 paper pad used a photo mat.

Some Pink Paislee's Artisan resin elements here, misted in TA Glimmer Mist in Daisy Yellow. Tiny alphas are Glitz. Fancy chipboard trim from Dusty Attic.

From Workmates to Best Babes

It's not very often that one finds great friends at the workplace, but I'm blessed to say I did and this page is a tribute to these lovely girls. We've shared almost a good three years of joy, tears, quarrels and of course endless hours of gossips over lunch and coffee. Even now that we've all left the old workplace, we still try to make a point to catch up every now and then. Back in the day, they were my daily remedy for the Monday blues, and I use 'Monday' loosely here ;)

Everything is Pink Paislee's Daily Junque, except for the fibres which are Momoyo. Alphas are AC and buttons are random from my stash.

I made these fan flowers from Scrap-A-Little's tutorial. Helen's got such amazing flower tutorials and she makes it so easy.

Made these little fans with toothpicks. Pardon the messy liquid pearls, clumsy fingers kinda messed them up abit :(
Oh and ACG stands for our ex-company; Alliance Cosmetic Group. The photo was taken at the office car park area.

I really love this line (Daily Junque), they are perfect for almost any theme! I have an entire paper pack of it to last me forever :)

Baby's First Bath

I'm very proud to say that I gave Lucas his first real tub bath all by myself when he was around 2 weeks old. Well, I learnt how to from You Tube hehe. Here's a layout dedicated to his first bath. I used the transparency to mimic the bath bubbles and further accentuated bath water with glittery bubbles floating on the page. It;s the first time I'm using transparency and tags on a layout and I'm pretty pleased with the effect.

Your First Swim

I was delighted to catch the latest release by Simple Stories; 100 Days of Summer. They were all so well coordinated and versatile. I knew immediately these were the perfect design for Lucas' swimming photos. I've been hunting everywhere for something suitable for ages.

These are the three papers I used for this project.



Coordinating the papers and planning my layout.


I decided to go with a collage layout incorporating the cute elements from the kit. This is the end result:

Your First Swim! The fresh summer elements complements the photos.  The flowers are Prima and the chipboard sun sticker in the centre is actually from My Mind's Eye Alphabet Soup but it matches this line prefectly!

Added some pearl beads and liquid pearls to the existing flourishes on the pattern paper. I cut a small opening on the actual paper using a craft knife and slot the photo and yellow canvas inside.

 

Love how their paper comes with ready-to-cut tags that are so well coordinated. Simply cut, sand and ink and they are ready to go!

I used my Slice for the title and underlaid an olive green ribon to make the letters pop.
