First Birthday Canvas Album

Hi there! Thanks for being here! Hope you had a nice weekend and I hope this Monday's not too blue for you :) Today's post is to reminisce Lucas' first birthday ... my boy was born on 4th September 2010, that's 2 years ago. We celebrated his first birthday last year with just about everyone! Family, friends, church friends, colleague, ex-colleagues and wonderful people aplenty.

We had great photos taken at the party and I was planning to document the birthday in a special canvas album, so I ordered the album and all the embellies like back in September last year but I only managed to complete the album this year. Talk about procrastination! Here are the canvas pages which I had fun with lots of misting, iron-transfers and embellishing. I used a Prima Canvas Album 10" x 9" with 5 canvas inserts. Love the thick double layered inserts, perfect for heavy painting, misting and whatever not.

My boy is already 2 plus today and soon I will work on his second birthday album, I pray I won't take another YEAR to complete it! Here's a precious moment of us at his second birthday last month where I was showing him how much he has grown! :)

Kisses for Creative Scrappers #202

Woohooo! It feels so good to back in my blog, it's been almost 2 months since my last post! I managed to create a layout 2 weeks back and I finally found time to upload it. I so happen to be off work today *yay*

Here's a layout inspired by Creative Scrappers Sketch #202 using a photo of our dear boy back in October 2011 at a family gathering at Sheraton Imperial KL.

After such a long interval I really went crazy with mixing all kinds of colors and patterns here plus paint splatters and misting and fussy cutting. I missed scrapping so much!

Well, I've got a busy weekend ahead of me, family gathering plus it's my dear hubby's birthday this Monday! Now I gotta go rush off and make a card for him! *wink*

Bag Ladies! Models for a Day :)

I’ve been having annoying internet connection issues for the past 2 days and although it’s back today, it’s still very unstable. I've been sucking the life out of my phone data usage *ouch* Anyway, thankfully I’m just in time to post and submit this layout.

This is a photo of me along with two of my besties: Ai Leen and Jade at a very momentous occasion. It was at the store opening event at Jade’s Radley boutique at Pavilion KL in November 2010. She needed a group of ‘everyday-real-women’ to model the bags so since we love her so much, we relented and allowed ourselves to be embarrassed and hounded by media lenses for a couple of hours hehe.

Here’s my shabby-glam fashion-forward LO :)

This LO is for Scrap-It-Lah’s September challenge by DT Helen Tilbury with the following criteria:

Create your own mixed media background, using printed paper as a base.  Be sure to include at least 3 different paint colours in whatever effects you fancy. This can be using stamps, bubble wrap, etc etc - its all up to your imagination.

Also ensure that you have at least twelve words on your layout, which can include the title, date (if you want to include one) and the journaling (or even be one REALLY long title if you like!)

The deadline is actually tomorrow, so you still have a wee bit time left if you wanna join :) It’s totally worth your while because they have Studio Calico’s Debate Team Kit as the winning RAK. So go on over to Scrap-It-Lah now!

I am also entering this for Create (Make It Happen) with the criteria of butterflies, buttons and blings. They also have a RAK for the lucky winner but deadline is also tomorrow.

I have used Pink Paislee’s Parisian Anthology resist paper as the background which I colored with these: Tattered Angel’s Glimmer Glam in Rustic, Tattered Angel’s Glimmer Mist in Viva Pink, Tattered Angel’s Glimmer Mist in Red Velvet and the top light shade is Studio Calico Mister Huey’s Mist in Cream. I also used a combination of liquid pearls and glitter glue on the top right corner of the paper. As per criteria, there's definitely a mix of media here; fabric, doiley, chipboard, wood, mists, liquid pearls and glitter :)

One of the feature on this LO is Dusty Attic's dress-form chipboard which I dressed up with some fabric, also using the same colors as the background and some trims and etc. This was a satisfying fun process :)

Wooden button; Maya road. Rose, ivory rayon crinkled seam binding & stickpin; Etsy.

The next prominent feature here is my handmade satin ribbon bloom which I edged with some delicious red lace. I used a couple of wooden spools will to add a fashion-forward feel, spools; Yew Buttons (local haberdashery)

Tiny fussy-cut frames from a Sassafras paper, alphas from Jenny Bowlin. Rose from Etsy. Buterflies with blings as per criteria for Create (Make It Happen).

Title alphas; American Crafts. "Bag Ladies" because Radley is a brand that sells bags and purses etc and we had to carry alot of bags during the show. The photo was also taken against a wall full of bags on display from ceiling to floor.

Journaling reads: "Thanks to Jade (babe in the centre of the pic), we got to be models for a day at the Radley store opening fashion show at Pavilion!" (I definitely have more than 12 words here, as per criteria, hehe)

The fabric ruffled border is from Pink Paislee Mistables which I colored with some of the same shades I used for the background and topped it with red glitter glue at the edge.

This was quite a challenge as it's not easy trying to incorporate at least 3 different colors unto a patterned paper background, I was contemplating for almost a whole month how to go about it and then at the eleventh hour, the mojo hit me in the face.

Sketchy Thursdays 9.15: Getting Ready 4 Sun!

Here's my take on this week's sketch, which I thought was perfect to scrap a sunny beach layout with some of Lucas' vacation pics :)

Paper is Bo Bunny's Barefoot & Bliss which I won as a RAK from Scrap-It-Lah's July challenge :) *thanks!!!*
I cut strips of paper and used them as a mask before I misted the background with TA Turquoise Blue and Midnight Blue.

Such a bold and exciting sketch! They are having a join challenge with Scrap Fit but I won't be using their criteria (Friendship) for this LO just yet. But thanks to this collaboration I've discovered Scrap Fit so I'll keep an eye out for their future challenges  :)

I'm using Pink Paislee's Mistable scalloped borders here. Misted in TA colors. The texture behind that is made using 2 layers of medical gauze painted over with acrylic paint. I fussy cut the 'waves' and accented them with stickles. Jute twine local supply.

Tag by Martha Stewart, journaling bits cut out from the collection kit papers.

Water waves effect created using some gesso and a scrapper. The 'seafoam spray' is created using various shades of Ranger Liquid Glue and Stickles. The bottom polka dot effect is made with a Punchinella as a mask, using Ranger Distress Ink Pad Stormy Sky.

Check out that sunny smile!!! It took alot of crazy mad song & dance plus jumping up and down to get him to smile for the camera!  Anyway, here he is holding his baby sunblock which we were about to apply on him so we can take him to the beach.

Sketchy Thursdays 9.1 Challenge: Grand Pa

This sketch gave me just what I needed to scrap these small photos of my dad with Lucas.

 Here's my take on the sketch, I know I'm straying off a little, I decide to go with circles so the small pics stand out more. I also moved the title to the top right corner.

It's a very simple layout with a musical theme. My dad is a musician, he sings beautifully. He's always singing to Lucas everytime they meet. Now if only Lucas will inherit those music talent genes :P

Alphas are AC Platform. "Listen" chippie by Creative Imaginations. Inks and mist; TH Distress Inkpad in Victorian Velvet, TA Glimer Mist in Red Velvet and Mister Huey's Mist in Warm Calico.

Tulle trim by Bo Bunny Gabrielle. White lace doiley trim is actual the backing of the actual sticker (Basic Grey), no waste right? :) Other trims local. Blooms; Prima, Kraft tag; Martha Stewart, ticket findings; MM.

Dusty Attic scroll chippie painted in TH Distress Ink Victorian Velvet. The polka dotted effect is made with a punchinella as a mask and distress ink, it's actually the same shade as the chippie but I think the foam pad was 'contaminated' with another shade, but it turned out pretty good :P

Patterned papers are 7Gypsies Paddington's Kilburn and MME's Laundry Line. Background sheet music stamp by Anna Griffin.

Once Upon A Sketch August 1st Challenge

Hi all! I'm back with my second OUAS challenge... this time the criteria is as per below:

Journalling Criteria: Finish this line "A PERFECT DAY IS....." . Your journalling has to be at least 2 lines long, and with the theme of a whatever a perfect day for you is or a perfect day that you have had already e.g.  a birthday, a holiday, a childhood memory, a wedding day, graduation day etc. Your journalling can be ANY type : handwritten, typed, etc...

You MUST combine our journalling criteria with this sketch...

TCR Palette #69: Boy I Think You're Amazing!

TCR challenges are always challenging! The standards are so HIGH and I often find myself not having the shades that are on the palette (still a newbie, my stash is still very small). When I saw #69 I decided to try it out, quite an unusual color combo I must say. I had to go and get myself some pool blue paints and new papers... taddaaa ... excuse to shop!

All the embellishments are Basic Grey Hopscotch chip stickers and office tabs. Patterned paper is an old 7Gypsies Canal Venice. Other than that, we have TA Mist in Turquoise and Adirondack Acrylic paint dabber in Pool Blue, some brown felt, some netting, corrugated paper, a button and a BG brad.

I made this felt button flower; free-hand cutting hehe. It looks really unproportionate actually. The big button did a good job hiding it. Scattered the chip stickers on the corrugated sheet. I had to resist very hard not to use flowers here, I didn't want to girlie-fy the layout too much.

I split the office tab so I can use it twice. Foil chipboard alphas from AC.

I got so into the color scheme after I'm done I actually went on and made a card. I so happen to pick up an orange paper from Basic Grey's Life of the Party line (Again! I'm so into BG lately!)


Using up some scraps here, plus I was just dying to use this new Penny Black stamp I got from Cherry On Top.
